IPTV on MAG and Formuler box: what to have ready

Setting up TVPikoma on MAG and Formuler box, one step at a time
Locate the MAC address
Look at the sticker on the underside of the box, or open the device information screen in the settings. Every MAG address begins 00:1A:79. Photograph the label and send the picture to TVPikoma on WhatsApp, so no digit gets copied wrongly on either side.
MAG: type in the portal
Go to Settings, System settings, Servers, Portals. Enter TVPikoma in the Portal 1 name field, then type the portal address from WhatsApp precisely. Save the change and pick Reboot device. When the box starts again, it connects to the portal without further input.
Formuler: set up MyTVOnline
Launch MyTVOnline and select the option to add a portal. Give it a nickname and enter the portal address, or choose Xtream Codes and use your username and password. Because Formuler boxes also run Android apps, you can install TiViMate later if its grid guide appeals.
Choose the time zone and menu language
On a MAG box, open Settings, System settings, Advanced settings. Select your Time zone and, if wanted, a different Language for the menus, then save and restart. With the correct zone, guide entries show your local time even when channels come from several continents.
Arrange channels by country
After the restart, the full 25,000+ list loads together with the built-in programme guide. Open the group list and go straight to your home-country section. The coloured keys on the remote handle favourites and the guide, so daily channels open in two presses.
Add a second portal for another relative
MAG boxes keep more than one portal. Under Servers, the Portal 2 name and Portal 2 URL fields accept a second account, for instance for a grandparent who wants separate channels and favourites. Every portal needs its own activation, so speak to support before entering it.
Use the network port for 4K
MAG and Formuler boxes both include an Ethernet socket. Connect it for 4K channels, because a cable eliminates the wireless dropouts that show up as frozen frames whenever the action on screen moves fast.
Keep the box software current
On a MAG box, the Software update entry sits inside System settings. Run it every few months, since updates fix playback bugs and improve support for newer stream formats. Formuler boxes offer updates through their own settings menu. Never switch the box off while an update is installing.
Formuler: set the clock and language in Android settings
Formuler boxes run Android, so date, time zone and system language live in the main Android settings rather than in MyTVOnline. Open them from the home screen, confirm automatic time and the correct zone, and choose the language that suits the household. MyTVOnline then shows guide times in your local hour.
Show relatives the essential buttons
Older family members often want only three things: switching on, finding their channels and opening the guide. Put their favourite home-country channels in the favourites list, then walk them through the guide key and the back key once. A sticky note beside the remote with the channel numbers helps more than any manual.
MAG and Formuler box not working? Fixes for the usual problems
STB blocked appears, or the screen stays empty
Either activation has not finished yet or a character in the MAC was wrong. Take a photo of the label under the box, send it to support on WhatsApp, and the fix normally takes a few minutes.
The portal opens but channels are missing
Restart the box so it requests a new list, then check the portal address against the WhatsApp message letter by letter. If channels are still absent, ask support to refresh the account on their side.
The box warns that time is not synchronised
MAG boxes set their clock from an NTP server. Open Settings, System settings, Servers, General, enter pool.ntp.org as the NTP server, save and reboot. Guide listings fall back into place once the clock is right.
Some channels have correct guide times, others do not
Start by checking Time zone under Advanced settings. If local channels agree but one foreign group is off by an hour, that guide source may be slow to reflect a daylight saving change. Tell support which group is affected so it can be checked.
The box sits on the loading portal screen
Check that the network cable is firmly seated and that the router has internet. On a MAG box, open System settings, Network Info to confirm an IP address. Then reboot. If the portal still will not load, message support with a photo of the screen.
The remote stops responding
Replace the batteries first and point the remote straight at the front of the box, because many MAG remotes use infrared. Clear any object blocking the sensor. If only certain keys fail, the remote may be worn, and Infomir or Formuler sell replacements.
The picture looks stretched or cropped
On a MAG box, open Settings, System settings, Video and check the output resolution and aspect settings against your television. Match the resolution to the TV, for example 1080p or 4K. If only one channel looks odd, the broadcaster may send a different shape of picture.

Whatever the model, connect it with Ethernet for 4K and check that the television input is set to accept a 4K signal.
Can a MAG box play catch-up from TVPikoma?
Catch-up on a MAG box depends on the portal and on whether a channel keeps an archive. Where both support it, past programmes appear in the guide and can be played back. Ask support on WhatsApp which channel groups include an archive, since availability varies by country and broadcaster.
